Investment discipline, and the operating experience to use it.

Pinnacle Management Group is a private investment firm. It acquires lower middle market companies and takes an active part in running them afterwards.

Who we are

Pinnacle achieves its investment objectives by acquiring lower middle market companies and then employing a hands-on operational approach to unlocking and growing value post close.

That sentence contains the whole of the firm’s position, and the second half of it is the part that matters. Capital is widely available at this end of the market. What is scarce is an owner willing to be involved in the operating detail once the transaction is done — and structured so that it can be.

Pinnacle is built for that. The team that will run the transition is engaged during diligence, so the people testing the assumptions are the people who will have to live with them. The first 120 days after close are treated as the most consequential period of the investment and are planned accordingly. And the involvement does not stop when the transition does.

The firm is industry agnostic by preference rather than by default. It maintains a diversified portfolio across industries, and it looks for mature businesses with real market position that are underperforming for reasons which can be identified and addressed.

Ownership model

Autonomous management, held accountable.

Pinnacle believes autonomous and empowered management is critical to the long-term success of any business. Management teams keep full decision-making authority; they are also accountable for operations and for executing the strategic plan.

Every portfolio company is developed against the same four fundamentals.

Strong management and workforce

Autonomous, empowered teams that own their results.

Operational excellence

A structured transition, then sustained oversight.

Financial stability

The footing a business needs to fund its own plan.

Clear strategic direction

A plan the management team owns and executes.

How the firm is organized

Two teams and one committee.

A disciplined, structured process, with clear ownership at each stage and no gap between the people who underwrite a business and the people who run it afterwards.
